Meet Think Rich Mum
Hi there!! This is my first blog post.
After a long time of hard work in creating and designing this website, I was able to publish this blog. Well, this website creation thing is all new to me and I'm amazed on how easy it is to make a website with all the themes and features from a website builder. Soon, I will be able to add more articles on my journey to Financial Independence (FI).
OK, I have to confess, I don't have any writing experience at all. This is totally out of my comfort zone but I have to keep on challenging myself, right?! So here we go. I'm going for an anonymous blog here. I would like to keep my blog writing, professional career and private life separate. In saying that, I'm still sharing some of my personal information like basic facts about my family, personal finance, assets and decisions in life. You can find more information in the About page.
I have been in IT for over 15 years now. I have two young kids who I greatly adore. My husband and I built a portfolio of 3 investment properties and 1 home for the past 9 years - all properties are still mortgaged. Last year, we were trying to purchase another property but unfortunately, we hit a brick wall. Bank lending was very restricted and no banks would take our loan. So, we looked for other investment vehicles and found the share market.
Due to our lack of knowledge, we extremely did a lot of research on the share market - what are index funds, ETFs, bonds, online brokers, investment strategies, power of compounding, asset allocation and the likes. Then, we stumbled upon the Barefoot Investor, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Think and Grow Rich and most importantly, the concept of Financial Independence Retire Early (FIRE).
I will be sharing all about my journey, inspirations, life sacrifices and decisions. We are continuously searching for ways on how to optimize our lives to reach the ultimate goal of financial independence (and maybe go a level higher - financial abundance).
The idea of this blog is to track my financial progress and provide tips and tricks on saving and investing. You can look for the pattern threaded in our journey - and if it fits you and serves your goal, emulate it and build yourself a road map. Have fun!!
